A bespoke wine wall is a brilliant way to store wine properly and turn it into a feature at the same time. We build handmade wine walls to suit your space, your collection, and the style of your home or venue.
Whether it’s a clean kitchen feature or a commercial display for a bar or restaurant, every piece is made with proper joinery, strong fixings, and a finish that looks right up close.
What is A Wine Wall?
A wine wall is a built-in wall of bottle storage, usually floor-to-ceiling or sectioned into bays, designed to hold wine horizontally and present it neatly.
It can be open racking, glazed cabinetry, a mix of cubes and display rows, or a full temperature-controlled wall with a cooling system.
Built in Wine Storage
A built-in wine storage wall is the neatest way to keep bottles organised without making the room feel cluttered. Because it’s made to measure, it can take advantage of awkward spaces, line up with existing cabinetry, and look like it has always been part of the house.
I design each layout around your collection and how you use it, then build it with strong joinery, secure fixing, and a finish that matches the rest of the room.
- Made to fit your space: alcoves, under stairs, full-height walls
- Secure, stable storage that supports the bottle weight properly
- Designed around your collection, including mixed bottle sizes
- Finishes to suit your kitchen or dining room, painted or natural timber
- Optional lighting and glazing for a cleaner, more premium look

Handmade Wine Storage
When you choose a bespoke wine wall from Dean Watson, you are involved in the design process. A wine wall gets handled, wiped, and viewed up close, so the construction of the wall and the materials in use must suit your environment and day-to-day usage.
Options include:
- Solid timber for warmth and character
- Veneered panels for stability and consistent grain
- Painted joinery to match your kitchen or bar (any colour match is achievable)
- Glass doors and metal detailing for a sharper, contemporary look
We also plan bottle spacing and support properly. A wall full of glass bottles is heavy, and the structure behind the pretty face is what keeps it safe long-term.

Wine Wall in Cellar
A cellar is one of the best places for a wine wall because it naturally stays cooler and more stable than most rooms in the house. The aim is simple: store bottles securely, keep the space organised, and make it easy to see what you have without turning it into a cluttered store cupboard.
We build cellar wine walls to suit the room and the collection, whether that means full-height racking, a mix of display bays and case storage, or something more architectural that frames the space. The joinery is designed to support the weight properly, keep bottles sitting correctly, and allow sensible airflow and access for day-to-day use.
If you’re planning to age wine long term, we can also design around lighting, ventilation and temperature control from the start, so the finished wall looks the part and performs properly too.
Residential Wine Walls
A commercial wine wall needs to look impressive, but it also has to work during service. Our wine walls provide storage for restaurants, bars, hotels and private members’ spaces, with layouts that make it easy for staff to find, reach and rotate stock without slowing things down.
Each wine wall is made to measure around your available space and your wine list, whether that’s a back-bar feature, a dining room display, or a dedicated cellar room. We can include a mix of bottle racking, case storage and display bays, with lighting and glazing where it suits the venue and protects the bottles from dust and handling.
If temperature control is required, the joinery can be designed to allow for airflow, access panels and serviceability, so the finished wall performs properly as well as looking the part. The goal is simple: secure storage, clean presentation, and a feature your customers remember.

Commercial Wine Walls
Freestanding wine racks offer complete flexibility while still being built to measure. Designed to suit your interior style, they can be positioned wherever you entertain, and moved whenever your space evolves. This makes them an ideal solution for those who want high-quality storage without a fully fitted installation.
From a compact rack for a small selection of favourites to a large floor-standing statement piece, every design balances practicality with visual appeal. And because it’s made by hand, you have full control over capacity, finish, and those special features that make it uniquely yours.
How We Build Wine Walls
1Your Space & Your Collection
We start with a quick chat about the space and the collection. How many bottles you want to store now, how you plan to use the wall day to day, and the look you want it to have in the room. Whether it’s built in wine storage in a kitchen, under stairs, or a dedicated cellar wall, we’ll agree the best location and a rough capacity from the outset.
2Design, Layout & Finishes
Next, we design the wine wall properly. We take accurate measurements and produce a clear layout so you can see exactly how it will look and how it will work. We’ll plan bottle spacing, any mixed storage (display bays, cubes, case storage), and details like lighting, glazing, and the finish, so the joinery matches the rest of the room rather than fighting it.
3Workshop Build
Once the design is signed off, your wine wall is built in the workshop in sections. That gives you a cleaner finish on site and a more accurate fit overall. The structure is made to support the weight of full bottles properly, with crisp joinery and a finish that will hold up in a busy home or venue. We’ll keep you updated as the build comes together.
4Installation & Final Details
Finally, we install the wine wall with secure fixing and careful alignment, then complete the finishing touches on site. If lighting or glazing is included, everything is tested and finished neatly. The end result should feel fully integrated into the room, not like an add-on, and ready to load with your bottles.
